    Forrrr SURE!!! I am tired of the Disney People Dominating the trends. I try to make my stuff custom, and with my own flair of creativity. I don’t do craft fairs, maybe eventually I will. I tried two different events, with very little turnout. So I’m also looking for the right setting to sell. Anyway, I think base colors, maybe a mix of textures. Color blocking, and appliqué techniques are excellent ways to stand out. And my number one, is just be true to yourself. Be true to what makes you happy when you see the end result. Having that unique take on a simple tote bag can really get people gathering around with a fist full of cash. Or plastic. Whatevs.

    I have the Easythreed K9, FYI to anyone: The K7 Print Speed is 10-40mm/s The filament residue stuck in the magnetic sheet can be removed, I soaked it with some alcohol first, dried it and then applied Fasson Foil Tape on it, rubbed it down and then pulled it off and it pulled it out of the perforations. You can prevent the filament from getting it it by applying blue painters tape on it, i gives good adhesion and a smooth bottom on the model, if extra adhesion is needed use hairspray or glue stick (These are used in other printers also) on it. There are also other bed sheets that can be used if you want to change it. The filament holder only holds a 250gram spool max. Doing the calibration cube you dont use supports. I use Cura and print directly to the K9 using the USB cable (it gives you some options). You should re-tram (level) the bed after several prints. Using a good filament does help with the prints. That 3Dbenchy was okay, But you can get it a little better than that adjusting the settings.The hard part is the lettering detail on the bottom and across the bow. Note Easythreed made these printers as cheaply as they could, But they didnt do a bad job and it works okay. Its a starting place if you dont want to sink a lot of money into it at first. Ive learned alot using the K9.

    Did you multiply the seam allowance by 4 because there were 4 corners to the shape you were making the gusset for? Or would you use the same formula regardless of the shape? (What if the shape you’re making the gusset for was a circle?)

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz 5 днів тому

      By 4 because of the sides being sewn - for the circle the formula worked there too. I used it when I designed the Doufflay!

    I have two different large tool chests. One rolling one with a wood top that I use for my cutting table and storing resin supplies (glitter in the top drawer, resin in the tall drawer, molds in the thin drawers, and stuff like picture frames/add ins in the deeper but not huge drawers). The other is a top box I got on a good deal when my local big box home improvement store was clearing out the previous years models to make room for the new years ones (actually got two one for me in the craft room one for my husband in the garage) and I have it on a table top. Since the top opens up I have my 3D printer on it and my Sillhouette cameo then all the vinyl is stored in the drawers, HTV on one side PSV on the other. My sublimation printer is on a rolling cart I got from walmart on black friday and I use the large photo storage boxes that have the smaller boxes inside for grouping sewing items like zippers, tassels, and such by color on the bottom shelves. My heat presses are on a baker's rack from amazon which gives me storage for cups/mugs below and a small shelf on top for random less needed items. I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on a bottom box to put the top one on since that space is kinda wasted right now anyway but it's not a top priority at the moment.

  • @christiankolinski1563
    @christiankolinski1563 5 днів тому

    Hmm. Never thought this to be an issue. But that might be because I'm used to European patterns which tend to not include the seam allowance (add to your own taste). So I think construction along the seam line, not the final piece size with seam allowance. Which I would recommend anyhow, as it prevents such circle-calculations like in this example - first remove 4x seam allowance to get it to fit, and then rounding here and there, and then add 2x2 so... the same 4x the seam allowance back again... ending up with the same over all gusset length we're started of with - just with some compounding rounding errors adding up to 24.25 instead of 24.1462. Which is a bit of a head scratcher if we first learn the gusset needs to be smaller than the circumference of the pattern piece, and the pieces to cut and then end up to 0.1038 in longer. Why not just construct along the seam line and when cutting the pieces add the allowance where needed - so no matter if your gusset is 2 pieces like here, or needs to be 3 pieces because the lower gusset is to long to being cut in one piece, or 6 because the bottom and top should be another color than the sides.. it will always be the right size.

    Hi! I’m new to bag making I’ve noticed some squeaking noises coming from the strap on my bag. I’m using Nylon webbing and lobster claws, attached to a triangle strap connector. Any ideas as to what it might be or how to remedy this?

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz 7 днів тому

      It might be the top part of the lobster clasp that connects to the ring to let it rotate. You can put a little bit of WD-40 or even sewing machine oil in it to quiet it down.

    I used 5mm foam in my second bag and used zigzag but the 3-step zigzag, like the number 6 on your machine. It creates a nice even graduation to the foam so there's less volume butting up inside the seam allowances. I've loved that stitch for ever and use it for just about all zz applications.

      Oh, I'm KEENLY aware of her shenanigans. I have not been served and I won't be for this particular video. Her patent specifically covers the embossed look. She's a sneaky one. She only goes after smaller creators. You'll notice she hasn't touched Ricoma or Brother for their tutorials. There's a reason for that. First of all, this is an amazingly clear tutorial for a welt zipper pocket, which is amazing, because even knowing all the steps myself for a regular welt pocket, I get dizzy just trying to remember them. What I did notice though, is that your welt zipper pocket - apart from having a zipper - differs from a regular welt pocket on one thing. Around 8 minutes in you start cutting open your welt pocket, and turn everything around, and iron everything neat so everything stays in place. So far so good. But what you did not do is pay any attention to those little triangles - I was taught fold them back, iron them, and sew a reinforced stitch over them while keeping the outside fabric out of the way, in order to reinforce the pocket for the weight it might carry while not showing anything on the outside. Do you intentionally ignore that because you sew right over when you sew the zipper in, and the zipper might carry some of the weight, or is there another reason? Thanks again for this amazingly clear tutorial, I'll be definitely be keeping it in my saved videos list to rewatch when I'll be making a welt zipper pocket sometime soon.

    HI! Love this video. I'm pretty new to bag making. I'm a quilter and have recently gone in the bag making rabbit howl! Love your channel. I was wondering where you get your foam? Do you recommend a name brand? Thank you for all your tutorials. (By the way. I'm on my husband's computer so his name shows up. But I'm Victoria😉).

      I just use Pellon Flexfoam and buy it from Joanns when it's on sale!

      No I don't think so. You'd have to slice it into smaller pieces and glue them together.
